The main building of Ordos Museum was built on May 26th 2006 and was completed and accepted on September 6th 2011. It was officially opened to public for free on May 18th 2012(International Museum Day). Its predecessor was the Yi Kezhao League Cultural Relics Work Station established in 1963 and The Ordos Museum established in 1989. The main building of Ordos Museum just like a giant red-brown rock, symbolizing the unique red sandstone of Ordos and the perseverance spirit of Ordos people. The building was designed by Chinese-American Yansong Ma and won the Luban Prize, which is the highest award in Chinese architecture. Ordos Museum is a huge comprehensive museum in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. It aims to protect and inherit the history and local culture of Ordos. It collects, studies, displays, educates and serves cultural relics. The construction area is 41,227 square meters, supporting seven professional exhibition halls, the total exhibition area is 14000 square meters. At present, the collections of cultural relics is 18,681 (sets), including 936 rare cultural relics (sets). The museum has 45 formal employees, more than 90% of the undergraduate degree, of which five researchers, two vice researchers, 19 intermediate grade, junior title 24; in addition to nearly thirty interpreters and dozens of properties staff member. In early 2017, Ordos Museum ranked among the “National First-Class Museums” in China. This is the second “National First-Class Museums” in Inner Mongolia which following the Inner Mongolia Museum.

　　As an important window to show the history and culture of Ordos region, Ordos Museum, based on the collection of cultural relics resources, display the cultural connotation of the region. We have 4 basic exhibitions: “Ordos Paleontology Exhibition”, “The General History of Ordos Exhibition”, “Ordos Mongolian Historical and Cultural Exhibition” , “100 years of history ? witness Ordos - City Memory Collection Exhibition” . During 2012-2017, a total of 32 boutique exhibitions have been introduced throughout the country. At the beginning of 2014, the exchange exhibition "800 Years of Non-Extinguished Lamp - Historical and Cultural Mongolian Tribute to Genghis Khan" formed. In October 2015, the exhibition was selected as "Catalog for Promoting Exhibition Activities of the National Museum in 2015". In early December 2017, the exhibition has completed 16 domestic displays. In 2016, it launched the "Brilliant Artworks, Lingering Glamour - Ancient Mural Art Exhibition in the Northern Grasslands of China". By the end of 2017, it has completed 4 domestic displays.

　　From 2012 to 2017 Ordos Museum, successively published "Agricultural Nomadic Collision - Ordos History Exhibition", "800 Year Eternal Vigil Light – Historical Culture of Ordos Sacrifice to Genghis Khan", "Athletics Games - Minority Sport of Northern China in the History ", " Northern Prairies Ancient Mural Paintings Collection " 4 professional books, published more than 270 articles of various types of research at all levels.

　　At present, Ordos Museum Cultural Industry stores sell 9 categories, including culture creative products, national craft gifts, travel souvenirs, food, cashmere products, jewelry, books, daily necessities and children's toys. Rely on the collection of cultural relics, the exhibition design and development of a series of cultural relics, the development of more than 20 models "Brilliant Artworks, Lingering Glamour - Ancient Mural Art Exhibition in the Northern Grasslands " series of cultural and creative products. In 2017, we cooperated with enterprises to design and manufacture 3D postcards and metal commemorative coins featuring Ordos Museum. The sales of this series of products can be realized vending machine sales, while supporting cash, Wechat, Alipay payment. In November 2014, the bronze-derived fruit knife and fork of Ordos Museum's cultural and creative products won the "2014 China Museum Prize for Cultural and Creative Products" at the 6th Museum and Related Products and Technology Expo. In September 2017, "Huns Golden Crown Tea Set" won the Silver Prize at the First National Tourism Commodities Fair and National Feature Tourism Products Contest in Inner Mongolia.

We received more than 4,600 reception groups and carried out more than 180 social educational activities. In December 2013, the Ministry of Culture awarded the Excellent Unit of "National Cultural Volunteers Service" to Ordos Museum. The "Mobile Museum " was named the "Cultural Volunteer Grassroots Service Year" demonstration project in 2013. In November 1st 2017, Ordos Museum was named "the sixth batch of social science popularization base in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region."

　　2.Opening Time:09:00-17:30(admission before 16:30) Tuesday to Sunday,closed on Monday(except for public holidays).

　　3.Visitors need to make reservation,everyday 12:00 stop reservationthat day's tickets,booking time visitors can selectable for 7days,on the day of booking tickets can not visit on the bookingday.

　　4.Primary school students,middle school students,the handicapped people above deeds may visit the museum bypresenting their valid IDs.

　　5.Those under the influence of alcohol,improperly dressed or unaccompanied people without or with limited capacity are not allwed to enter.
